Rwandese striker Arthur Gitego has vowed to lead AFC Leopards to FKF Cup victory,aiming to end their trophy drought since 2016.
AFC Leopards striker Arthur Gitego has declared that his team possesses the right qualities to vie for the FKF Cup trophy this season.
Ingwe’s quest for silverware has been reinvigorated after they qualified for the semifinals by defeating Complel FC 3-1.
The upcoming clash against Kenya Police on the weekend of May 25-26, 2024 promises to be a crucial one for the club.
Gitego, who was pivotal in the quarterfinal by scoring twice, expressed his determination to continue his goal-scoring streak to ensure his team lifts the cup.
“We want to win the tournament. It would mean so much as it would be the first time for many of us. We are motivated and will keep pushing ourselves,” he said as per New Times.
The 22-year-old Rwanda international has been a key player for AFC Leopards since joining from Marines FC in February.
With a strong track record of 16 goals during his stint with the Rubavu-based club, Gitego’s transition to Kenyan football has been seamless bolstering Ingwe’s attack significantly.
Gitego emphasized the importance of taking each match seriously and preparing thoroughly for every challenge.
“It is tough, but we have to challenge ourselves to win more games. We need to take one game at a time, and if we reach the final, we will be more than ready,” he added.
The striker is focused not only on scoring goals but also on being a crucial part of his team’s success.
“My personal target is to keep on helping my team by scoring goals, which would boost my chances of winning the cup,” he noted.
Leopards have been yearning for a major trophy since their last triumph in 2016.
