During the burial ceremony of the late Joseph Muiga, father to Mejja Donk Benjamin Gathiru, MP Embakasi Central, Babu reminded Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that Azimio leader Raila Odinga was going becoming the next African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson.
Babu laid claim to Raila’s position as the leader of opposition, warning Gachagua to be careful lest the ruling coalition lose seats in the 2027 General Election.

The combative politician further put the government on notice over introducing more taxes on the already burdened Kenyans.
Babu said he would fearlessly lead anti-government protests in Mt Kenya, a region considered the ruling coalition’s political bastion.
He explained that it was up to the opposition to fight for Kenyans and ensure nobody is discriminated against.
Kalonzo ranked best Raila’s successor
In other news, Timely Kenya Research company ranked Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the top candidate who is likely to succeed the ODM leader, Raila.
The company conducted the survey after Raila expressed his wish to become the next African Union Commission chairperson in the February 2025 elections.
According to the pollster, Embakasi MP Babu Owino was ranked in the second place with 61% as Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna followed with 55%.
