Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday interacted with residents of Malindi in Kilifi during his morning walk.
He praised the residents saying their town is an economic asset to the country.
The DP is known for taking morning walks before embarking on the day’s business.
“The warmth, hospitality, and hard work of the people of Malindi in Kilifi make this town a strategic economic asset of our country,” he said.
He expressed excitement in interacting and engaging with residents along the streets and beaches of the town as they go about their business.
He said that Bunthuani Water Front Beach, among other facilities, is not only a sparkling leisure spot for local and international tourists but also key sea access resources for fishing.
The DP added that under the Blue Economy, the government focus is on reigniting such towns for a stronger and better economy.
He was accompanied by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, Senators John Methu Nyandarua and Joseph Githuku of Lamu.
