Chaos was witnessed at Wajir County Assembly on Tuesday after members argued over the proposed budget for the Financial Year 2024-2025.
The argument escalated into violent altercations and property damage in the assembly chambers as MCAs went on to fight over the mace.
In a video that has surfaced on the internet, MCAs are seen physically wrestling the Sergeants-at-Arms in an attempt to grab the mace.
The sergeant-at-arms successfully protected the mace and exited the House with it, leaving the MCAs chasing after them.
Chairs and tables were broken as the MCAs scampered for safety and pandemonium rained in the house.
According to an official at the assembly, the MCAS are against the budget being passed because the Sh30 million ward-based fund was not factored in.
Tension remains high at the assembly as police officers keep vigil.
The assembly is set to resume sitting on Tuesday afternoon to pass the budget.
