Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has flagged an X account purporting to be him as fake.
According to Kiunjuri he had taken note of the message from the account claiming to be him.
“I have taken note of the message below that has been going around purporting to be from my account. Fake account,” Kiunjuri said.
The X account (@MwangiKiunjuri_) had distanced itself from the ongoing impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
It further claimed that he would not participate in the process, and denied that he signed the motion to impeach Gachagua.
The MP’s real account is (@Hon_Kiunjuri).
On Tuesday, Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi tabled an impeachment motion against the DP, stating at least 11 grounds warranting the impeachment.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed that having examined it, the motion met the requirements relating to form and threshold set out in Article 145 (1) and 150 (1) b of the constitution and standing orders 64 (1).
“I have also satisfied myself that the number of members who have appended their signatures in support of the special motion exceeds the minimum threshold of 117 members in this House,” he said.
