K’Ogalo have secured significant partnerships in Tanzania setting the stage for a promising future for the club
Siaya Governor James Orengo has unveiled that Tanzania Premier League champions Yanga SC will travel to Kenya for a landmark football match.
The event is set to mark the inauguration of the new Siaya Stadium which is a significant development in Kenyan sports infrastructure.
The exact date for this grand event remains unconfirmed due to the busy schedules of both teams.
During his visit to Dar es Salaam, Orengo met with top officials from Yanga, including the President of Young African Sports Club (Yanga) and Chairman of the African Club Association (ACA), Eng. Hersi Ally Said, alongside the Chairman of Gor Mahia, Ambrose Rachier.
“The teams have agreed to play an inaugural match during the official opening of Siaya Stadium. A collaboration agreement will be prepared for review and consideration,” Orengo stated.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia’s current stint in Tanzania for the 2024 CECAFA Cup has not been as successful on the pitch, with the team being eliminated early after managing only a single point from two games.
K’Ogalo are set to face Al Hilal Omdurman in their final Group B match on Wednesday.
Despite the setbacks in the CECAFA Cup, Gor Mahia’s administrative strides in Tanzania highlight a promising future.
Last year, Gor Mahia’s Secretary General, Sammy Ochola, revealed that they are in talks for a sponsorship deal with Tanzanian kit manufacturer GSM.
This partnership is expected to bring considerable resources and exposure to the club.
Adding to the excitement, Gor Mahia announced that renowned shirt designer Sheria Ngowi will be their official kit designer for the 2024-25 season.
Ngowi, who is celebrated for his work with Yanga SC and Zanzibar Heroes, is expected to inject a fresh aesthetic into Gor Mahia’s jerseys.
Gor Mahia will shift focus to prepare for their upcoming engagement in the inaugural Coal City International Cup in Enugu, Nigeria, starting on August 1.
The new Siaya Stadium, a 20,000-capacity venue built by the county government at a cost of Ksh495 million is touted to be a multipurpose facility that will not only host sporting events but also cultural and social activities.
