According to a recent survey conducted by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), the number of Kenyans who consume bhang has climbed by 90% in the last five years.
According to the research, a total of 193,430 teenagers aged 15 to 24 years (one in every 37) were currently smoking cannabis, representing a 2.7 percent prevalence.
The result for individuals aged 25 to 35 years is 174,142 (one in every 48), corresponding to a 2.1% prevalence rate.
One in every 53 Kenyans aged 15 to 65, or around 518,807 people, is now using the substance.
Nairobi had the greatest percentage of drug consumption (6.3%), followed by Nyanza (2.4%) and Coast (1.9%).
