Former television news anchor Jackie Maribe, who is standing trial in the murder of Monica Kimani, told a Nairobi court on Thursday that she learned of Ms. Kimani’s death while watching the evening news.
She told trial judge Grace Nzioka that on the night of September 19, 2018, when Monica was suspected to have been brutally murdered she had been doing interviews at Royal Media Services’ studios until around midnight.
She left the company’s premises with her guests Juliet Julie, Chelangat Ruto, and Anita Thumbi. The group went out and was later joined by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. They remained in the club until 4 am, she said at which point they learned of Kimani’s death while watching news on TV.
