The Ministry of Interior has announced that 37 counties are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall this Sunday.
The forecast follows an advisory from the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The moderate to heavy rainfall will be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Nairobi is among the 37 counties set to experience the forecasted weather conditions.
The weatherman has predicted that Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu counties will be affected in the Coast region.
Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia in the Western region have been included in the list.
Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay in Lake Victoria Basin will experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
Nyeri, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Kiambu and Nyandarua in the Central region will also experience the same.
In Eastern, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Meru are expected to experience similar weather conditions of moderate to heavy rains.
In Rift Valley, Nandi, Bomet,Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Laikipia, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot and Baringo are on the list.
“Flooding is expected in low-lying areas, riparian areas and urban areas while landslides/mudslides may occur in areas with steep slopes, escarpments and ravines,” the Interior Ministry said.
The northwest part of Kenya; Turkana, Samburu and Marsabit counties and North Eastern regions including Isiolo, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties are forecasted to be generally dry.
The Southeastern part, specifically the Taita, Taveta and Tana River will also be generally dry.
“However the continuous heavy rains in the Central region and the overflow of the Seven Forks Dams pose to exacerbate flooding in the Tana Delta and impacting Garissa, Tana River, and Lamu Counties,” the Interior Ministry said.
On Saturday, Marsabit, Tharaka Nithi, Baringo, Kisumu, Nakuru, Machakos, UasinGishu, Busia, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Trans Nzoia, Nairobi, Wajir, Mandera, Bomet, Kajiado, Embu and Nyeri counties suffered from flooding.
Landslides and mudslides occurred in West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho and Makueni Counties.
