Police in Mai Mahiu Naivasha are looking for a suspect who stabbed and killed his friend in a bar following a dispute over a Sh20 debt.

The body of the middle-aged victim was found on Monday morning a few meters from the bar in Governors Camp centre where the fight occurred.

A witness Jeremiah Maina said that the two were arguing over the debt when the suspect who has since gone into hiding whipped out a knife.

He added that the middle-aged suspect stabbed his colleague on the chest once before fleeing using the cover of darkness.

“On being stabbed the victim who was drunk stumbled out of the bar while bleeding only for his body to be discovered on Monday morning,” he said.

Meanwhile, a mother and her four-year-old son lost their lives in Mai Mahiu Naivasha in yet another fatal accident which are on the rise in the country.

The incident came hours after three people including a four-year-old minor died along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway following an accident involving three vehicles.

The Monday morning accident along the Mai Mahiu-Narok road brought to five the number of persons who have died within Naivasha in the last two days.

The two died after a motorcycle which they were riding on was hit by a truck that had been involved in another accident near Mafuta Taa center along the busy road.

A witness John Kimani said that the two lorries that were heading in different directions rammed head-on, seriously injuring the occupants.

In the process, one of the lorries lost control and crashed into the passing motorcycle that was ferrying the mother and her minor.

“The mother and the boy died on the spot while the motorcycle operator and all the people in the lorries were seriously injured and rushed to Mai Mahiu health center,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed both cases adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to the local mortuary.

“We are seeking the suspect in the murder case while the rise in the number of accidents is due to the high number of motorists on the road after the travel restrictions were eased,” he said.
