Man Who Killed His Mother Over 20 Coffee Plants Arrested While Trying to Sell His Phone

The police have apprehended a man in connection with the brutal murder of his mother. The 30-year-old man is alleged to have hacked his 56-year-old mother to death on Thursday, March 21.

According to a report by Citizen Digital, the man, identified as Murimi Maina, reportedly unlived his mother following a disagreement over coffer crops on a piece of land.

Maina, a butcher by trade, allegedly descended on his mother, Jane Nyambura Maina, after she destroyed 20 coffee plants that he had cultivated on her land.

The young man is said to have warned his mother of severe consequences following her actions before using a machete to hack her to death.

Maina immediately fled from the crime scene, fearing the residents’ wrath.

How did the police arrest Maina?

Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Moses Koskei confirmed the arrest, revealing the suspect was planning to flee the area.

Koskei said the young man was arrested in Kagumo while trying to sell his phone to fund his escape.

The police boss added that the young lad had been detained at the Baricho Police Station, awaiting his arraignment.
