Raila’s sister Wenwa and Kidero land plum jobs as chairpersons in Ruto’s latest appointments

President William Ruto has appointed former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and opposition leader raila Odinga’s sister, Wenwa Akinyi to top parastatal jobs.

Dr. Kidero has been appointed to serve as the chairperson of the board of directors of Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) for a period of three years.

In appointing Dr Kidero, the President revoked the appointment of Hussein Debasso. Dr Kidero has been in the cold after he lost the Homa Bay gubernatorial contest in the 2022 General Election. Last year, Dr Kidero was among a host of poll losers that President Ruto appointed to serve as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) before the appointments were quashed by the court.

“Gratitude to H.E (President Ruto) and undertaking to deliver service with dedication and commitment to the Kenyan people/nation In order to add value and make a difference,” Dr Kidero said following his appoint.

In the latest appointment contained in a gazette notice dated November 15, 2024, the President also tapped Dr Wenwa to serve as the Chairperson of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, for a period of three years.

Also appointed are Teobald Wambugu to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tana Water Works Development Agency and Dr Thuo Mathenge to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, for a period of three years.
