The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has reduced fuel prices by up to Sh18 in this month’s review.
Epra said a liter of Super petrol has decreased by Sh5.31, diesel by Sh10 per litre while Kerosene has gone down by Sh18.68 per liter.
In Nairobi, super petrol will retail at Sh193.84, Diesel at Sh180.38 and Kerosene at Sh170.06.
Mombasa residents will purchase super petrol at Sh190.66, Diesel at Sh177.21 and Kerosene at Sh166.99.
In Nakuru, the price of fuel will retail at Sh192.90 for super petrol, Diesel at Sh179.82 and Kerosene at Sh169.56.
The new prices will take effect at midnight, April 14, through to midnight, May 14, 2024.
Epra said the prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
The last review of fuel prices by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) was in mid-March.
Epra reviewed fuel prices leading to a reduction of petrol pump price by Sh7.21 per litre.
In the March review, the Authority also reduced prices per litre of diesel by Sh5.09 and that of kerosene by Sh4.49.
The current pump prices in Nairobi are Sh199.15 for super petrol, Sh190.38 for diesel and Sh188.74 for kerosene.
Earlier, President William Ruto said Kenyans are going to witness a decrease in fuel prices by Sh10.
Speaking during Sunday service at ACK St Peter’s Cathedral in Nyeri, Ruto said the prices will come down by Sh10, a milestone that will push the country forward, he said.
“Today the price of Unga which was Sh200 is almost hitting Sh100, the shilling has strengthened against the dollar,” he said.
“Fuel prices were up but today it is going down with Sh10. All this is because we are making the right decisions and not popular decisions,” the President said.
He asked leaders across the country to stay focused since they have a historic opportunity to change the country.
“The countries ahead of us put an end to poverty, industrialized, have made progress and all this is because they made the right decisions and their leaders led from the front,” Ruto said.
