Celebrities and fans have paid tribute to former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, who has died following a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear. Buenos Aires police said they went to the hotel on Wednesday after receiving a 911 call about an aggressive man who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Hotel staff had requested urgent police assistance shortly before Payne fell, according to a 911 call obtained by a CNN affiliate. The hotel manager said a guest was “overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol,” and that staff didn’t know “if the guest’s life is at risk.” Photos of Payne’s hotel room released by police showed a smashed television.
