Serena William’s daughter, Alexis Olympia, was spotted having a great time at the Olympic Games, rocking a Kenyan bracelet that has gotten fans talking.
Serena William’s daughter Alexis Olympia was spotted wearing a Kenyan bracelet at the Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Her father, Alexis Ohanian, shared a video of the opening ceremony on his X handle and Kenyans could not hide their joy as the young girl was seen rocking the Kenyan signature bracelet.
The seven-year-old was seen enjoying a great time at the ceremony in the company of her parents, with Serena Williams also stealing the show with her iconic look.
Alexis Ohanian captioned a post on X saying: “Olympia’s Olympic credentials. She was VERY excited to get the Armenia pin.”
Reacting to the video, Faith Koli noted that kids from all over the globe are usually attracted to the Kenyan culture.
“Kids away from home are really fascinated by these Kenyan bracelets. The athletics team kids in a former school we were in would come looking for my kid to ask if she could get them the bracelet especially if a Kenyan won a marathon race we have handed out dozens of them,” she added.
Another X user, Winnie Njuguna asked: “Where did she get this wristband? Looks like beadwork of the Kenyan flag.”
Ohanian replied to her tweet, noting that the seven-year-old was handed the bracelet by some Kenyan players at the opening ceremony. Olympia wanted a pin but instead, the Kenyans gave her a bracelet, an iconic symbol of the Kenyan colours.
“From some Kenyan players! She was so excited to meet them and ask for their pin (and they gave her an even better upgrade with that bracelet!),” he noted.
Meanwhile, as the pin trading tradition started at the Olympics, Kenyan athletes tried a new tradition where they would give out bracelets as opposed to pins.
