Members of Parliament on Wednesday voted to have the Finance Bill 2023 proceed to the second reading stage in Parliament.
The voting followed an intense session during the debate on the Bill that saw MPs give opinions on why they are backing it or opposing its passage.
At the end of voting, 176 lawmakers voted to have the Bill read a second time while 81 of the 257 MPs in the House opposed the move.
The Bill now moves to the committee of the whole House where members will have a chance to push through their amendments.
