Uneasy calm, closed businesses, and almost empty roads were witnessed in Nairobi on Tuesday ahead of the planned protests.
Activities were slow in the Central Business District (CBD) as police kept watch.
A spot check by the Star indicates some roads were closed with police mounting roadblocks to crucial installations like the State House, Parliament and Supreme Court.
All roads leading to State House were cordoned off with heavily armed police keeping guard.
A police truck was strategically stationed at Arboretum Road, Professional Way, with motorists diverted and passers-by screened.
Biashara Street, Moi Avenue, and Tom Mboya Street most shops were closed.
Police were seen patrolling major streets with several contingents stationed in all entry points into the City.
