BBC correspondent Larry Madowo’s story is that of moving from grass to grace. Even he at times cannot believe how far he has come.

For a man who now works for the most reputable media station in the world, Larry is a man living his dreams.

This is because back in the day they never owned a TV.

He has in the past few days he has been reporting on Donald Trump’s health after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Taking to his social media he penned

‘Siaya to the world!

We didn’t even have a TV growing up so it’s surreal that I get to present a BBC newscast watched in every corner of the world. Don’t say dreams don’t come true!’

Larry Madowo started his career in Nairobi as a Trainee Reporter at Kenya Television Network and then as Business Anchor at NTV Kenya where he worked twice.

He later anchored and reported business and financial news at CNBC Africa before returning to NTV.

He resigned from the station in March 2018 to join the BBC.
