Olunga at the double as Al Duhail dominate Muaither in Qatar Stars League clash

The 30-year-old Harambee Stars captain grabbed a goal in each half to help the Red Knights pick up a huge victory against Muaither.

Kenya international Michael Olunga continued with his goal-scoring prowess this season striking twice to lead Al Duhail SC to a commanding 5-2 victory over Muaither SC in a thrilling Qatar Stars League match at Grand Hamad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The match opened with Olunga’s early goal in the eighth minute, setting the pace for a high-scoring game. 

Despite Hugo Gomes leveling for the hosts in the 23rd minute the Red Knights regained their lead before halftime thanks to Almoez Ali’s decisive strike in the 40th minute.

 However, Ayman El Haassouni’s quick response two minutes later brought the score to a 2-2 tie at the break.

In the second half, Al Duhail showcased their offensive prowess. Philippe Coutinho quickly put the visitors ahead again right after the break. 

As the match approached its climax Olunga sealed his brace in the 80th minute, highlighting his critical role in the team’s success this season.

The scoring was rounded off by Rashid Abdulaziz’s powerful finish in the 89th minute cementing a 5-2 win for Al Duhail.

With this performance, Olunga has now accumulated an impressive total of 15 goals this season ranking him fourth in the league’s top scorers. 

His consistent scoring has been pivotal in Al Duhail’s campaign with the team now recording three wins in their last five matches.

Olunga and his team are set to continue their quest for dominance as they face Um Salal next Wednesday, April 24, at Al Gharafah Stadium.
