Brian Anyango who represents South Gem encountered the unfortunate incident while he was attending a funeral service in his Ward.
During the funeral, the MCA faced tough opposition and was heckled throughout his speech by his constituents. The attendees continuously booed him as he tried to condole with the bereaved family.
The politician had been at loggerheads with his constituents for his dalliance with Kenya Kwanza politicians. Over the course of this year, he has met with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.
According to Gem Sub-County Police Commander Cecilia Kemboi, the MCA was attacked multiple times using a sharp object.
The incident was immediately reported to Akala Police Station, and he was urgently rushed to Kisumu County for emergency medical treatment.
As per the reports, amidst the chaotic scene of booing and heckling, one of the mourners suddenly rushed to the stage and forcefully took away the microphone from Anyango.
In the ensuing commotion, a group of unidentified individuals descended on the politician, subjecting him to a vicious and life-threatening assault. Fortunately, he narrowly escaped death, but the severity of the attack left him in critical condition.
